Why is this measure important?

Exercises are integral to validating existing plans, collecting stakeholder feedback and identifying corrective actions to improve our preparedness, response and recovery programs. The HSEEP process provides a structured, unified approach to the develop and delivery of exercises and is used by all nationwide jurisdictions.

Definitions of key terms

HSEEP: Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.  Drill: coordinated, supervised activity usually used to test a specific function or capability in a single agency; drills are commonly used to provide training on new equipment, validate procedures, or practice and maintain current skills.
